1. Driver Information Center (DIC) Switch Malfunction |
The driver information center (DIC) switch are normally open momentary switch. The instrument panel cluster (IPC) interfaces with the driver information center (DIC) switch(es) via a discreet circuit. The DIC switch signal circuit is pulled up to battery voltage in the IPC. The switch input to the cluster is pulled low or grounded when a switch is activated. The IPC reads the voltage at the analog input to determine which switch is pressed. The switch input to the cluster is set up in a resistor ladder format. The DIC switch include the INFO and the SET/RESET switches. A simultaneous press and hold of the INFO and SET/RESET switch activates the MENU switch. The MENU switch is the third embedded switch used to activate the various DIC personalization menus.

Control Module References for scan tool information
Ignition ON, verify that when the DIC switches are pressed and released the DIC switch scan tool parameters toggle between Active and Inactive.
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If any DIC switch parameters are not Inactive, test the signal circuit terminal 1 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the instrument panel cluster (IPC). |
⇒ | If any is not Active, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the IPC. |
