Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the four engine skid plate bolts, if the vehicle is equipped with the engine skid plate.
  3. Remove the skid plate.

  5. Remove the nuts that attach the stabilizer shaft (7) to the right stabilizer joint (2) and to the left stabilizer joint (2).
  6. Remove the stabilizer shaft (7) from the right stabilizer joint (2) and the left stabilizer joint (2).
  7. Remove the right and left stabilizer shaft mounting bracket bolts (10) and nuts (11).
  8. Remove the following components from the vehicle:
  9. • The stabilizer shaft (7)
    • The mounting brackets (8)
    • The bushings (4)

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the following components to the vehicle:
  2. • The stabilizer shaft (7)
    • The bushings (4)
    • The mounting brackets (8)
  3. Install the right and left stabilizer shaft mounting bracket nuts (11) and bolts (10).
  4. Finger tighten the nuts and the bolts.

  5. Install the stabilizer shaft (7) to the right stabilizer joint (2) and the left stabilizer joint (2).
  6. Install the nuts that attach the stabilizer shaft (7) to the right stabilizer joint (2) and to the left stabilizer joint (2).
  7. Finger tighten the nuts and the bolts.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Tighten the stabilizer shaft-to-link nuts.
  9. Tighten

        • Tighten the stabilizer shaft-to-link nuts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
        • Tighten the stabilizer shaft mounting bracket bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
        • Tighten the stabilizer shaft mounting bracket nuts to 85 N·m (62 lb ft).
  10. Install the engine skid plate to the vehicle, if equipped.
  11. Secure the skid plate to the vehicle with four bolts.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the engine skid plate bolts to 54 N·m (40 lb. ft).

  13. Lower the vehicle.
