    Important: 

       • Replace all the old power steering pump O-rings seals with new seals from the power steering pump seal kit.
       • Lubricate the internal parts with power steering gear and pump fluid Dexron® -III Automatic Transmission Fluid GM P/N 12346143, or the equivalent.

  1. Install the following components to the power steering pump:
  2. • The oil seal
    • The pulley with the shaft attached
    • The side plate (2)

  3. Install the following components to the power steering pump:
  4. • The cam ring
    • The rotor (2)
    • The snap ring

  5. Install the vanes (2) to the rotor.

  7. Install the new O-ring seal (1) to the pump.
  8. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: Ensure that you can turn the shaft by hand after you install the rear pump cover (2).

  9. Install the rear pump cover (2) to the pump.
  10. Use 4 bolts in order to secure the rear pump cover (2) to the pump.

    Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump rear cover/cam ring bolts to 24 N·m (17.5 lb ft).

  11. Install the flow control valve assembly (1) to the pump.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the flow control valve assembly to 66 N·m (48 lb ft).

  13. Install pressure switch (1) to the pump.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump pressure switch to 18 N·m (13.5 lb ft).

  15. Install the new O-ring and the suction hose connector to the pump. Secure the suction hose connector with the bolt.
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump suction hose connector bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  17. Install the power steering pump to the vehicle. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
