Important: For ease of adjustment after installation, mark the position of the tie rod locknut on the tie rod thread.
Replace the seal if you find a perforation or excessive wear.
Do not tighten the locknut. Align the marks denoting the position of the tie rod locknut (2) with the tie rod thread.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
• | Tighten the tie rod castle nut to 45 N·m (33 lb ft). |
• | Tighten the tie rod locknut to 65 N·m (48 lb ft). |
Bend the end of the pin following the installation.
Secure the engine skid plate with the 4 bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the engine skid plate bolts to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).
