Front Seat Belt System

The front seat belt system includes the following components.

    • The seat belt guide loop is attached to the seat belt.
    • The seat belt retractor assembly is attached to the B-pillar.
    • The seat belt buckle is attached to the seat adjuster.

The driver's seat belt system includes a seat belt switch in the driver's seat belt buckle which controls a seat belt indicator lamp and an audio alarm. When the driver's seat belt is buckled, the driver's door is closed, and the ignition switch is turned ON, the following events will occur. The audio alarm will not operate. The seat belt indicator lamp will not operate.

When the driver's seat belt is not buckled, the driver's door is closed, and the ignition switch is turned ON, the following events will occur.

    • The audio alarm will operate for 4 to 8 seconds and then go OFF.
    • The seat belt indicator lamp will operate until the driver's seat belt is buckled.

To diagnose a failure of the seat belt indicator lamp or audio alarm, refer to Audible Warnings cell-76 in Electrical Diagnosis.

Rear Seat Belt System

The rear seat belt system includes the following components.

    • The seat belt guide loop is attached to the seat belt.
    • The seat belt retractor assembly is attached to the body.
    • The seat belt buckle is attached to the rear seat.

Child Restraint System

The child seat should be installed and secured according to the manufacturer's specifications. The automatic locking (cinch) feature can be used to secure the child seat. If the child seat has a top strap it will need to be anchored.

Passengers should not be allowed to sit at locations where the seat belts are being used to secure the child seat.
