1. Connect the scan tool to the vehicle.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
3. Attempt to establish communications with:

•	The Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) (if equiped).

•	The Inflatable restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM).

Scan tool can interface with the EBCM (if equiped) and the SDM and operates normally.

Scan Tool Does Not Communicate with Components

With the scan tool still connected:

Attempt to establish communications with the Powertrain Control Module.

Scan tool can interface with the PCM and operate normally.
