- If both trailing arms were removed, inspect the
rods in order to distinguish between the right rod and the left rod prior
to installation.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the trailing
arm (1) to the vehicle body and rear axle housing.
Secure the trailing arm with the following components:
• | The front and rear nuts (2) |
• | The front and rear bolts (3) |
• | The front and rear washers |
Tighten
Tighten the trailing arm front and rear nuts and bolts to 90 N·m
(66 lb ft).
- Remove the floor jack (1) from the rear axle
housing (2).
- Install the parking brake cable hanger (2) to
the trailing arm (1).
Secure the hanger with a nut and a bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the parking brake cable nut and bolt to 10 N·m
(89 lb in).
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Wheel Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
