ENGINE STALL WITH CLUTCH PEDAL DEPRESSED ON DECEL

1985-86 SUNBIRD MODELS EQUIPPED WITH 1.8L OHC-4 ENGINE (VIN CODE 0) WITH 5 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION

There have been some customer comments of vehicles equipped with 1.8L OHC engines and 5-speed manual transmissions encountering a declutch stall during vehicle warmup.

This condition may occur after a closed throttle coastdown from highway speeds, and depressing the clutch pedal at approximately 35-40 miles per hour.

If this condition is encountered and routine service manual procedures are ineffective, a service PROM, P/N 1228482 is available from GMSPO.

Use applicable labor time for this operation.
