SQUAWK NOISE FROM THE REAR NEW SPRING UPPER INSULATOR

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1982-90 J, N AND L CARS

Customer may comment about a squawk or squeak coming from the rear of the vehicle, particularly during cold weather temperature 4 DEG Celsius (40 DEG F) or colder. This condition may be caused by distortion of the rear spring upper insulator, resulting in a squeak or squawk noise.

IMPORTANT: New P/N #22555689 will temporarily be supplied with P/N #10017875 moulded into the side. New part is identified by a white stripe on the edge of the insulator.

This condition may be corrected by installing new rear spring upper insulators, P/N #22555689, following the service manual procedure.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
