STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT

Models Affected: 1987-88 SUNBIRD ---------------

In the event a steering column must be replaced in a 1987-88 Sunbird model, use the part numbers listed below:

7844369 - Sunbird with manual transmission, pulse wiper, and tilt wheel

7844367 - Sunbird with automatic transmission, pulse wiper, and tilt wheel

7844371 - Sunbird with automatic transmission, pulse wiper without tilt wheel

7844373 - Sunbird with manual transmission, pulse wiper, without tilt wheel

The above numbers can be found under the 1986 steering column information in group 6 of the parts book. These can be used on 1987 and 1988 vehicles. DO NOT use the 1987 or 1988 part numbers listed in 4 group 6 as these will create a "phantom wipe" problem.
