DOOR GLASS REMAINS OUTBOARD OF BLOW-OUT CLIP

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1988 PONTIAC AND CHEVROLET J-BODY ------------------ CONVERTIBLE

INSPECT (FIGURE 1)

1. With top latched to windshield header and door glass in full up position, top side rails must exhibit a slight over-crown relation to top edge of door glass.

2. Open and close door, door glass should pass under side rail blow out clip and seal against side rail weatherstrips. If door glass remains outboard of blow-out clip the side rail may be adjusted as follows:

NOTICE: WHEN RAISING OR LOWERING TOP DURING ADJUSTMENTS ALL SIDE WINDOWS MUST BE LOWERED.

SIDE RAIL (FIGURE 2)

1. Unlatch top from windshield header.

2. Operate top to half-lowered position.

3. Loosen side rail adjusting screw lock nut.

4. The following adjustments can now be made:

A. To increase the amount of crown in side rail rotate adjusting screw counterclockwise.

B. To decrease the amount of crown in side rail rotate adjusting screw clockwise.

5. Tighten side rail adjusting screw lock nut to hold side rail adjusting screw in position.

6. Raise top to windshield header. Do Not latch top to windshield header.

INSPECT

Top No. 1 bow alignment to windshield header. Top No. 1 bow must stand off windshield header approximately one inch, if not the top linkage can be adjusted as follows:

ADJUST (FIGURE 2)

1. Loosen eccentric pin nut while holding the eccentric pin in position.

2. Rotate eccentric pin until No. 1 bow lifts off windshield header and dowel pins align with dowel pin holes in header lock moldings.

3. Tighten eccentric pin nut while holding eccentric pin in position.

INSPECT

1. Lower top and then raise top to check operation and alignment as No. 1 bow meets windshield header.

2. Latch top to windshield header and raise door glass. Check alignment of side rail to top edge of door glass.

3. Open and close door, door glass should pass under side rail blow out clip and seal against side rail weatherstrips.
