A new tool for on-car turning of brake rotors is now available through General Motors Dealer Equipment. The tool number is 38 7040OS10.
This tool is designed to compensate for tolerance stack-ups from hubs, bearings, spindles, etc., by finishing the rotor while it rotates in it's normal on-car position.
We believe this source and their equipment to be reliable. There may be additional manufactures of such equipment, however, General Motors does not endorse, indicate any preference for or assume any responsibility for the products or equipment from these firms or for any such items which may be available from other sources.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
