This bulletin is being revised to include the 1990 Sunbird convertible and add the convertible trim pad part numbers. This bulletin cancels and replaces bulletin 90-10-31 issued 5190.
The cloth trim on some Sunbird Coupes and some Sunbird Convertibles may wrinkle when exposed to conditions of high heat and humidity. This results in a poor appearance and customer dissatisfaction.
A new embossing pattern, developed to improve this condition, has been used in production since January 2, 1990.
When customer comments are received on the above condition, it may be corrected by replacing both door trim pad assemblies. This is necessary due to the different appearance the new embossing creates in the material.
The new part numbers for these trim pads are as follows:

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
