PONTIAC VEHICLES RECEIVED AT DEALERSHIPS WITH THE WRONG INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INSTALLED BY THE PRODUCTION FACILITY IS NOT A WARRANTY SITUATION AND SHOULD NOT BE HANDLED THROUGH THE AC DELCO EXCHANGE PROGRAM NOR THE SERVICE PARTS OPERATION (SPAC DEPARTMENT). THE PONTIAC ZONE OFFICE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING THE CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FROM PRODUCTION. THE ZONE OFFICE WILL MAKE ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE PRODUCTION FACILITY TO SHIP THE APPROPRIATE UNIT TO THE DEALERSHIP.
THERE ARE THREE CONDITIONS WHICH COULD ARISE WHEN A DEALERSHIP TAKES DELIVERY OF A NEW VEHICLE AND THEY REQUIRE THREE DIFFERENT SOLUTIONS, WHICH ARE AS FOLLOWS:
1. A NEW VEHICLE IS RECEIVED WITH THE WRONG INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INSTALLED BY PRODUCTION (I.E. U.S. VS. CANADIAN, GAUGES VS. NO GAUGES OR GAS VS. DIESEL).
SOLUTION: CONTACT THE PONTIAC ZONE OFFICE FOR ASSISTANCE. AGAIN, THIS IS NOT A WARRANTY PROBLEM.
2. A NEW VEHICLE IS RECEIVED WITH AN INOPERABLE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER.
SOLUTION: CONTACT AN AC-DELCO SERVICE CENTER FOR AN EXCHANGE CLUSTER. (NORMAL WARRANTY CLAIM)
3. A NEW VEHICLE IS RECEIVED AND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HAS BEEN STOLEN OR DESTROYED. (NORMAL TRANSPORTATION CLAIM)
SOLUTION: CONTACT GM SERVICE PARTS AND PLACE AN ORDER FOR A NEW CLUSTER. REFER TO BULLETIN 48-83-07A DATED: FEBRUARY 1996 FOR IP CLUSTER IDENTIFICATION/APPLICATION.
