    Object Number: 4322  Size: SH
  1. Install the camshaft.
  2. Coat the camshaft lobes and journals with High Viscosity Oil with Zinc (GM P/N 12345501) or equivalent.
  3. Handle the camshaft carefully in order to prevent damage to the camshaft bearings.

  4. Object Number: 4321  Size: SH
  5. Install the thrust plate bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the thrust plate bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the Camshaft Position Sensor.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten Camshaft Position Sensor bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  9. Install the camshaft sprocket. Refer to Timing Chain and Tensioner Installation.
  10. Install the timing chain and the timing chain tensioner. Refer to Timing Chain and Tensioner Installation.
  11. Install the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Installation.
  12. Install the crankshaft pulley hub. Refer to Crankshaft Pulley Hub Installation.
  13. Install the crankshaft pulley. Refer to Crankshaft Pulley Installation.
  14. Install the oil pump drive. Refer to Oil Pump Drive Installation.
  15. Important: If you install a new camshaft, replace all of the valve lifters.

  16. Install the valve lifters and anti-rotation brackets. Refer to Valve Lifter Installation.
  17. Install the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder head installation.
