DEFINITION: When the transmission leaks lubricant.

Inspect the fluid level indicator in the fill port.

Is the indicator seated in the fill port and thus causing fluid leakage at the vent plug?

Is the transmission still leaking lubricant?

Go to Step 3

Inspect the axle shaft seals.

Are the seals worn?

Go to Step 4

Repair or replace the seals as needed.

Does the transmission still leak lubricant?

Inspect the level of lubricant in the transaxle.

Is there excessive lubricant due to improper checking of fluid?

Adjust the lubricant level in the transaxle.

Does the transmission still leak lubricant

Inspect the input gear (shaft) bearing retainer.

Is the retainer loose or broken?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 9

Repair or replace the input gear (shaft) bearing retainer as needed.

Does the transmission still leak lubricant?

Go to Step 9

System OK

Inspect the input gear bearing or lip seal.

Are they worn or damaged?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 11

Repair or replace the input gear bearing or lip seal as needed.

Does the transmission still leak lubricant?

Go to Step 11

System OK

Inspect the shift lever seal.

Is the seal worn?

Go to Step 12

Go to Step 13

Repair or replace the seal as needed.

Does the transaxle still leak lubricant?

Go to Step 13

System OK

Inspect between the case and the clutch cover or loose .

Is there a lack of sealant between the case and cover or is the clutch cover loose?

Go to Step 14

Replace the sealant between the case and cover or tighten the clutch cover as needed.

Does the transaxle still leak lubricant?

Go to Step 15

System OK

Inspect the end plate.

Is the plate loose or does it lack sealant?

Tighten the loose plate or replace the sealant as needed.

Does the transmaxle still leak lubricant?

Go to Step 17

System OK

Inspect the back up lamp switch.

Is the switch loose or does it lack sealant?

Go to Step 18

Tigthen the switch or replace the sealant as needed.

Does the transaxle still leak lubricant?

Go to Step 19

System OK

Inspect the speedometer signal assembly.

Does the assembly contain an internal leak?

Go to Step 20

Repair or replace the signal assembly as needed.

Does the transaxle still leak lubricant?
