Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Right Front Sedan

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 602209  Size: SH
  1. Remove the front seat belt sleeve plug.
  2. Remove the retractor side belt sleeve bolt.

  3. Object Number: 602193  Size: SH
  4. Pull on the bottom of the shoulder belt pillar guide cover in order to remove the shoulder belt pillar guide cover.
  5. Remove the shoulder belt pillar guide bolt.
  6. Remove the center pillar trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
  7. Remove the carpet retainer. Refer to Carpet Retainer Replacement in Interior Trim.

  8. Object Number: 602197  Size: SH
  9. Remove the shoulder belt retractor bolt.
  10. Lift and pull the retractor in order to disengage the retractor.
  11. Remove the retractor from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 602197  Size: SH

    Important: Remove any twists in the seat belt webbing before final assembly.

  1. Install the retractor to the vehicle.
  2. Insert the top of the retractor into the mounting slots.
  3. Pull down the top of the retractor.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the shoulder belt retractor bolt.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the shoulder belt retractor bolt to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  6. Install the carpet retainer. Refer to Carpet Retainer Replacement in Interior Trim.
  7. Install the center pillar trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.

  8. Object Number: 602193  Size: SH
  9. Install the shoulder belt pillar guide bolt.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the shoulder belt pillar guide bolt to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  11. Install the shoulder belt pillar guide cover.
  12. Inspect the shoulder belt pillar guide cover for broken tabs. Replace any cover exhibiting broken tabs.

  13. Object Number: 602209  Size: SH
  14. Install the retractor side belt sleeve bolt.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the retractor side belt sleeve bolt to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  16. Install the front seat belt sleeve plug.
  17. Inspect for proper operation of the seat belt assembly. Refer to Operational and Functional Checks .

Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Right Front Coupe

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 186888  Size: SH
  1. Remove the front seat belt sleeve plug (3).
  2. Remove the retractor side belt sleeve bolt (4).
  3. Pull up on the bottom of the shoulder belt pillar guide cover (2) in order to remove the shoulder belt pillar guide cover (2).
  4. Remove the shoulder belt pillar guide bolt (1).
  5. Remove the rear quarter trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  6. Remove the seat belt intermediate guide rivet.
  7. Remove the shoulder belt retractor bolt (5).
  8. Lift and pull the retractor in order to disengage the retractor.
  9. Remove the retractor from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Remove any twists in the seat belt webbing before final assembly.

  1. Install the retractor side belt.

  2. Object Number: 186888  Size: SH
  3. Insert the top of the retractor into the mounting slots.
  4. Pull down the retractor.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application.   7. Tighten
    Tighten the shoulder belt retractor bolt (5) to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  8. Install the seat belt intermediate guide rivet.
  9. Install the rear quarter trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  10. Install the shoulder belt pillar guide bolt (1).
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the shoulder belt pillar guide bolt (1) to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  12. Install the shoulder belt pillar guide cover (2).
  13. Inspect the shoulder belt pillar guide cover (2) for broken tabs. Replace any cover exhibiting broken tabs.
  14. Install the retractor side belt sleeve bolt (4).
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the retractor side belt sleeve bolt (4) to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  16. Install the front seat belt sleeve plug (3).
  17. Inspect the retractor side belt for correct operation. Refer to Operational and Functional Checks .
