Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
- Remove the hood close out filler retainers.
- Remove the hood close out filler panel.
- Remove the upper radiator mount bolts.
- Remove the upper two hood latch support bolts (2).
- Remove the two lower hood latch support bolts (4).
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove the cooling fan mounting bolt.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the cooling fan.
- Remove the cooling fan assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Install the cooling fan assembly.
- Connect the electrical connector to the cooling fan.
- Install the cooling fan mounting bolt.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the lower two hood latch support bolts(4).
- Install the two upper hood latch support bolts (2).
- Install the upper radiator mount bolts.
- Install the hood close out filler panel..
- Install the hood close out filler panel retainers.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts (4) to 27 N·m (20 lb in).
Tighten
Tighten the two upper hood latch support bolts (2) to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
Tighten
Tighten bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
