J 25087-C Oil Pressure Tester

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 3786  Size: SH
  3. Remove the oil pump to rear main bearing cap bolt.
  4. Remove the oil pump.

  5. Object Number: 3788  Size: SH
  6. Remove the extension shaft and the retainer.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 3788  Size: SH
  1. Heat the retainer in hot water.
  2. Important: Be sure the retainer does not crack upon installation.

  3. Install the retainer to the extension shaft.

  4. Object Number: 3790  Size: SH
  5. Install the extension to the oil pump.

  6. Object Number: 3786  Size: SH
  7. Install the oil pump.
  8. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  9. Install the oil pump to rear main bearing cap bolt.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 43 N·m (32 lb ft).

  11. Install the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .
  12. Remove the oil pressure sending unit.
  13. Install the J 25087-C .
  14. Start the engine and observe the oil pressure.
  15. Check for bearing knock. If necessary, dismantle and check for adequate oil supply and proper clearances.
