    • J 24420-B Crankshaft Pulley Hub Puller
    • J 29113 Crankshaft Pulley Hub Installer

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement
  2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the right front wheel and tire assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  4. Remove the right engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement in Body Front End.
  5. Remove the crankshaft pulley bolts.

  6. Object Number: 183269  Size: SH
  7. Remove the crankshaft pulley hub bolt.
  8. Remove the crankshaft pulley.

  9. Object Number: 3454  Size: SH
  10. Remove the crankshaft pulley hub using J 24420-B .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 3450  Size: SH
  1. Coat the front cover seal contact area with engine oil.
  2. Apply RTV sealer GM P/N 1052917 or equivalents to the keyway in the crankshaft.

  3. Object Number: 3453  Size: SH
  4. Install the crankshaft pulley hub using J 29113 .

  5. Object Number: 183269  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the crankshaft pulley and bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  8. Install the crankshaft pulley hub bolt.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 105 N·m (77 lb ft).

  10. Install the engine splash shield.
  11. Install the right front wheel and tire assembly.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
  13. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
