Important: Before removing the timing chain, measure the distance between the hole in the bracket and the unworn surface of the timing chain tensioner shoe. If the distance between the hole and the unworn surface of the timing chain tensioner shoe is more that 8 mm (0.314), replace the tensioner, timing chain, and both sprockets.
Make sure that the crankshaft sprocket is seated against the crankshaft.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
• | Tighten the timing chain tensioner bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft). |
• | Tighten the camshaft sprocket bolt to 130 N·m (96 lb ft). |
