Removal Procedure
Important: Observe the throttle valve (TV) cable routing when you remove the cable.
Duplicate the cable routing when installing the cable.
- Remove the TV cable end from the accelerator control lever assembly
slot.
- Remove the TV cable conduit end from the bracket by compressing
the locking tangs.
- Remove the TV cable routing clips or straps.
- Remove the bolt that is
securing the TV cable to the transmission. Pull up on the cable cover at the
transmission until the cable is visible.
- Remove the cable from the transmission link.
- Remove the transmission
case seal.
Installation Procedure
- Install a new seal into
the transmission case hole.
- Install the transmission end of the cable to the TV link.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the TV cable
bolt and washer assembly to the transmission.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Install the TV cable routing clips or straps.
- Install the TV cable conduit end to the bracket.
Important: Do not damage or kink the wire cable.
- Install the TV cable into the accelerator control lever assembly slot.
- Pull on the upper end of the cable. The cable should travel a
short distance with light resistance caused by the small return spring on
the TV lever. When releasing the upper end of the TV cable, the cable
should return to the zero TV position.
- Adjust the TV cable. Refer to
Automatic Transmission Throttle Valve Cable Adjustment
.
