Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  3. Object Number: 492719  Size: SH
  4. Clean all dirt and foreign material from the brake hoses and brake pipe fitting.
  5. Important: Install a rubber cap or plug to the exposed brake pipe fitting end to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  6. Use a backup wrench on the hose fitting, disconnect the brake pipes from the brake hose, then cap or plug the brake pipe fitting end.
  7. Do not bend the brake pipes or the brackets.

  8. Remove the brake hose retaining clip (1) and   (2) from the hose mounting brackets.
  9. Remove the hose (3) from the hose mounting brackets.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the brake hose (3) into the hose mounting brackets.
  2. There should not be any kinks in the hose.

  3. Align the hose fitting with the notch in the bracket. Use the hose paint stripe as a visual aid.
  4. Install the retainer clips (1) and   (2) onto the hose fittings at the brackets.
  5. Use a backup wrench on the hose fitting in order to connect the brake pipe to the brake hose. DO NOT bend the bracket or the pipe.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Tighten the brake pipe fittings.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fittings to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  9. Install the rear tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Ensure that the hose does not make contact with any part of the suspension. If the hose makes contact, remove the hose and correct the condition.
  12. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
