Diagnostic Aids

When the clutch pedal sticks or binds during clutch pedal travel there might be a faulty bushing or a worn or damaged release bearing.

Test Description

The clutch pedal damage may have been caused by improper fluid install in the hydraulic system.

  1. Disconnecting the clutch master cylinder from the clutch pedal will ensure there are no other interference with the clutch pedal action.

Inspect for restrictions that would pervent full pedal travel.

    • Aftermarket floor coverings
    • Under dash insulation panels
    • Wiring harnesses

Did you find and repair the condition?

  1. Remove the clutch master cylinder from the clutch pedal assembly. Refer to Clutch Master Cylinder Replacement .
  2. Inspect the clutch pedal for binding.

Does the clutch pedal still bind?

Replace the clutch pedal assembly. Refer to Clutch Pedal Replacement .

Inspect the clutch hydraulic system for faulty operation. Refer to Clutch Pedal Hard to Push .
