For 1990-2009 cars only

    Important: The in-line filter, ACDelco P/N 15-1760 must be installed to the A/C evaporator tube (liquid line) between the condenser and the evaporator. The installation of this in-line filter eliminates the need for flushing.

  1. Recover and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the evaporator tube. Refer to Evaporator Tube Replacement .
  3. Important: The liquid filter, ACDelco P/N 15-1760 will have an orifice contained in it.

  4. Remove and discard the existing orifice tube.
  5. Wipe the A/C line with a clean cloth before cutting.

  6. Object Number: 739803  Size: SH
  7. Make two marks 38 mm (1.5 in) apart on the liquid line.
  8. Important: Do not allow metal burrs from cutting the liquid line from dropping into the line and causing contamination.

  9. Using the line cutter, cut the liquid line at the marked position and remove any burrs.
  10. Remove the nuts, the ferrules and the O-rings from the in-line filter.
  11. Important: Do not install the O-rings at this step.

  12. Push the nuts and ferrules over each of the liquid line halves.
  13. Install the ferrules with the small end toward the nut.
  14. Install the liquid line into the in-line filter making sure to bottom it out.
  15. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  16. While holding liquid line bottomed-out in filter, tighten the nuts securely.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  18. Disassemble the filter from the liquid line.
  19. Lubricate the O-rings with clean 525 viscosity refrigerant oil and install them onto the liquid line.
  20. Install the liquid line into the filter bottoming it out.
  21. While holding liquid line bottomed-out in filter, tighten the nuts securely.
  22. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  23. Install the evaporator tube. Refer to Evaporator Tube Replacement .
  24. Evacuate, charge and leak test the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  25. Lower the vehicle.
