Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement Chevrolet

J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the power window switch, if equipped. Refer to Front Side Door Window Switch Replacement .
  2. Remove the window manual regulator handle, if equipped. Refer to Door Window Regulator Handle Replacement .
  3. Remove the armrest bolt (1).
  4. For the Chevrolet, remove the lower trim panel screws.
  5. Using J 38778 and starting at the door bottom, disengage the door trim panel (2) retainers.
  6. Remove the door trim panel (2) from the door by lifting up on the panel to disengage the inner belt weatherstrip .

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the rear door trim panel (2) to the door, pressing down to seat the inner belt weatherstrip.
  2. Align the push-in retainers and push in to engage the retainers.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the door armrest bolt (1).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 5.7 N·m (51 lb in).

  6. For the Chevrolet, install the lower door trim screws.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).

  8. Install the window regulator handle, if equipped. Refer to Door Window Regulator Handle Replacement .
  9. Install the power window switch, if equipped. Refer to Front Side Door Window Switch Replacement .
