2001-2002 Cavalier and Sunfire - Fuel Tank is Hard to Fill - kw control driveability fuel gas hard no performance

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

The fuel tank may be difficult to fill on some 2001 - 2002 Cavalier and Sunfire Models. This may occur if the inner filler neck coating becomes delaminated and eventually restricts the filler neck passage.

If the above condition is encountered, replace the filler neck. Also, inspect the fuel pump strainer and the inside of the tank for signs of contamination due to this delaminated coating. If contamination is found, properly dispose of the old gasoline, follow the "Fuel System Cleaning" procedure that is published in SI, and evaluate the fill quality again. If there is no contamination found, reassemble the vehicle and evaluate the fill quality again.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
