Service VME - 2.2 2.4 LD9 LN2 L61 Engine DTC P0440 Code Set

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Customers may have a concern of the Service Engine Soon Light on with a P0440 code set. Have the dealer check the evaporative solenoid vent jumper harness on the rear axle assembly for an open condition. If the ABS jumper harness is routed over the EVAP jumper harness, it may become fatigued. At this time, a replacement jumper harness is not available to service the vehicle. The dealer will need to repair the harness, and most importantly, after repair, route the EVAP harness over the ABS harness to avoid a repeat condition. A service part for the jumper harness will be available shortly, and when it is available, a bulletin will be released. The assembly plant has institued a change in process May 13 to assure proper routing of the harness.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
