Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Verify that the power door locks are inoperative.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Are all of the door locks completely inoperative?

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the driver side door lock switch connector.
  2. Probe the battery positive voltage circuit at the disconnected door lock switch connector with a test lamp connected to ground.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Test the battery positive feed circuit to the door lock switches for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 22

Test the battery positive voltage circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test each ground circuit to the passenger door lock switch for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Probe the door unlock control circuit at the disconnected door lock switch connector with a test lamp connected to battery positive voltage.
  2. Press the passenger door lock switch to the Unlock position and note if the test lamp stops illuminating while the switch is pressed.
  3. Probe the door lock control circuit at the disconnected door lock switch connector with a test lamp connected to battery positive voltage.
  4. Press the passenger door lock switch to the Lock position and note if the test lamp stops illuminating while the switch is pressed.

Did the test lamp go out each time the switch was pressed for the appropriate circuit being tested?

Are one of the door lock switches inoperative?

Test the battery positive voltage circuit to the inoperative door lock switch for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Replace the PWR ACC 15A Fuse if necessary.
  2. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

  1. Remove the door lock/unlock relay.
  2. Probe the battery positive voltage circuit, to the door lock/unlock relay with a test lamp connected to ground.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 11

  1. Disconnect the door lock switch that is not operating the system.
  2. Probe the battery positive voltage circuit, at the door lock switch connector, with a test lamp connected to ground.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 12

  1. Disconnect the inoperative door lock actuator.
  2. With a test lamp, probe the door lock actuator lock and unlock circuits, at the door lock actuator connector.
  3. Press a door lock switch to the lock and unlock position.

Did the test lamp illuminate when the door lock switch was pressed to the lock and unlock position?
