Removal Procedure

  1. Refer to one of the following procedures:
  2. • For the Pontiac, remove the I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement.
    • For the Chevrolet, remove the I/P cluster trim panel. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement.
  3. Remove the screws (2) from the radio (3).
  4. Remove the radio (3) from the I/P carrier (6).
  5. Disconnect the antenna coaxial cable (1).
  6. Disconnect the electrical connections (4).
  7. Disconnect the digital receivers electrical connector (5), if equipped.
  8. Remove the radio (3).

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the digital receiver electrical connector (5), if equipped.
  2. Connect the electrical connections (4).
  3. Connect the antenna coaxial cable (1).
  4. Install the radio (3) to the I/P carrier (6).
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the screws (2) to the radio (3).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2.3 N·m (20 lb in).

  8. Refer to one of the following procedures:
  9. • For the Pontiac, install the I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement.
    • For the Chevrolet, install the I/P cluster trim panel. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement.
