Removal Procedure
Caution: When performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, the SIR system must be disabled. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
Failure to observe the correct procedure could cause deployment of the SIR components, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
- Disable
the SIR system, if equipped with Side Impact Air Bag (SIAB). Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
or
SIR Disabling and Enabling
in SIR.
- Position the driver or the passenger front bucket seat forward or rearward
in order to gain access to the seat adjuster attaching nuts (3).
- Remove the seat adjuster stud covers (2) and seat adjuster nuts (3).
- Disconnect the seat belt wire harness on the driver's side.
- Disconnect the wire harness for the SIAB, if equipped.
- Remove the front bucket seat.
Installation Procedure
- Install the seat to the vehicle.
- Connect the wire harness for the SIAB, if equipped.
- Connect the seat belt wire harness on the driver's side.
- Position the seat fully forward to gain access to the seat adjuster rear
nuts (3).
- Install the front bucket seat rear adjuster nuts (3).
Hand tighten the nuts.
- Adjust the seat fully rearward.
- Verify both lock bars are engaged in the most forward adjustment in the
same notch on both of the seat adjusters.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the front bucket seat front adjuster nuts (3).
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).
- Adjust the front bucket seat to the full forward position and tighten
the rear adjuster nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).
- Install the seat adjuster stud covers (2).
- Enable the SIR system, if equipped with SIAB. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
or
SIR Disabling and Enabling
in SIR.
