Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the wheel drive shaft nut. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement in Wheel Drive Shafts.
  4. Without disconnecting the hydraulic brake flex hose, remove and support the front brake caliper with brake pads as an assembly, and remove the front brake rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.

  5. Object Number: 189132  Size: SH
  6. Remove the wheel bearing/hub assembly mounting bolts (1) from the steering knuckle (4).

  7. Object Number: 189138  Size: SH
  8. Remove the wheel bearing/hub assembly (1) from the steering knuckle (2) and wheel drive shaft.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 189138  Size: SH
  1. Install the wheel bearing/hub assembly (1) to the steering knuckle (2) and wheel drive shaft.

  2. Object Number: 189132  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the wheel bearing/hub assembly mounting bolts (1). Tighten the bolts evenly to draw the bearing assembly (3) to the steering knuckle (4), then tighten the bolts to specifications.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 95 N·m (70 lb ft).

  5. Install the brake rotor, and install the brake caliper with brake pads as an assembly. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  6. Install the wheel drive shaft nut. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement in Wheel Drive Shafts.
  7. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
