DIESEL TCC TEMP CONTROL-2004R NO TCC/BELOW 67C. ENGINE TEMP.

APPROXIMATELY MID-DECEMBER, A TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH (TCC) CONTROL SWITCH WAS ADDED TO THE TCC CIRCUIT ON 1982 DIESEL EQUIPPED CADILLACS (EXCEPT C-CARS EQUIPPED WITH THE 350C TRANSMISSION). THIS NEW SWITCH WILL PREVENT TCC ENGAGEMENT WHEN THE ENGINE TEMPERA- TURE IS BELOW 67 DEGREES "C" (152 DEGREES "F") AND WILL BE LOCATED IN THE EXPOSED RIGHT REAR CYLINDER HEAD BOLT (REFER TO FIGURE 1). THIS CHANGE RESULTED IN THE RELOCATION OF THE ENGINE METAL TEMPERATURE SWITCH TO THE REAR OF THE LEFT CYLINDER HEAD (REFER TO FIGURE 1, VIEW A). THE NEW ENGINE METAL TEMPERATURE SWITCH HAS A DIFFERENT THREAD SIZE TO FIT ITS NEW LOCATION. NEW AND OLD PART NUMBERS ARE LISTED BELOW: OLD P/N NEW P/N TCC CONTROL SWITCH NONE 25036453 ENGINE METAL TEMPERATURE SWITCH 8992977 25036463 P/N (THREAD SIZE) (3/8-16) (3/8-24) THE GMWDD PARTS BOOK WILL DISTINGUISH THE TWO ENGINE METAL TEMPERA- TURE SWITCHES BASED ON THREAD SIZE AND LOCATION. THE REVISED TCC CIRCUIT IS SHOWN IN FIGURE 2 AND SHOULD BE NOTED ON PAGE 7A-26 OF THE 1982 SERVICE MANUAL AND PAGE 80 OF THE 1982 ELECTRICAL TROUBLESHOOTING MANUAL. FOR WARRANTY PURPOSES, USE LTG OPERATION K5312 AT .2 HOUR. (SEE ILLUSTRATION FOR WIRING).
