TIRE ASSISTANCE INFORMATION

VEHICLES AFFECTED: All Carlines

To facilitate warranty and service adjustments of tires, arrangements are in effect with the tire companies to provide an additional back-up service to the GM Dealers.

GM Dealers requiring a replacement tire should initially contact the nearest retail tire store carrying that make of tire. In many cases the contacted store will respond adequately in providing the needed tires, or in making arrangements to obtain such tires.

In cases where an inadequate response is received from the local tire store, or where additional assistance is needed, GM Dealers should directly contact the nearest tire company shown on the attached list. It wil1 be necessary to confirm that the initial contact with the retall store has been made.

Method of payment and adjustment, transportation and delivery date should also be established at the time of contact with the tire company. These details may vary.

If it is felt that further assistance is required, the Zone Office Service Department should be contacted. They will inform Technical Services in Oshawa, who in turn will consult with the tire companies Head Office.

This service helps to eliminate unnecessary delays in obtaining replacements for original equipment tires, and to obtain expert advice when needed.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
