Some subject vehicles may exhibit water entry into the trunk area via the air relief vent valve, located in the dOor opening.
This water can run between the wheelhouse and quarter panel rearward into the trunk. Any water entering the air relief vent should run forward on the wheelhouse and out the rocker drain.
To repair this condition:
1.Remove air relief vent.
2.Use a ball of thumbgrade sealer approximately 25mm (1 inch) in diameter.
3.Working through the air vent opening, force the ball of sealer between the wheelhouse and quarter panel at the corner as shown in the Illustration. This will act as a dam and direct forward any water that enters.
4.Replace vent and screw.
5.Do both sides.
Use the most applicable labour operation from the Canadian Labour Time Guide and claim 0.5 hours.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
