DOOR RATTLES ADD ANTI-RATTLE PAD TO LOCKS

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1987 BERETTA, CORSICA AND TEMPEST

Customer comments of rattles inside the doors on 1987 Beretta, Corsica and Tempest styles may be due to loose lock rods within the modular lock system.

This condition can be repaired by adding a special anti-rattle pad between the lock rods and module back plate.

The anti-rattle pads, P/N 10051001, pad lock rod silencer have specific locations and those locations are shown on the illustrations with this bulletin.

DO NOT USE ANY OTHER MATERIAL TO REPAIR THIS CONDITION. THE SPECIFIED PARTS ARE COATED IN ORDER THAT THE LOCK SYSTEM EFFORTS DO NOT INCREASE.

Use the most applicable labour operation from the Canadian Labour Time Guide and claim 0.6 hours.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
