1987-88 Beretta, Corsica or Tempest styles that have been diagnosed as having a broken door hinge pin should be repaired by replacing both of the door hinges on the door of the vehicle that is affected.
New door hinges have been released and are available for these repairs and are listed as follows:
Hinge Asm. - Front Door Upper, P/N 10092242-3 (Right - Left) Hinge Asm. - Front Door Lower, P/N 10092244-5 (Right - Left) Hinge Asm. - Rear Door Upper, P/N 10092246-7 (Right - Left) Hinge Asm. - Rear Door Lower, P/N 10092248-9 (Right - Left)
The hinge replacement procedure is as follows:
1. Apply tape on front edge of front door and rear edge of front fender to protect painted surfaces.
2. Open door and support the door with the aid of a floor jack and a helper.
3. Remove nuts from door side of hinges and pull door away to provide access to hinges and bolts.
4. Remove affected hinges from body.
a. LAY ORIGINAL HINGE ON PAPER WITH BODY SIDE OF HINGE ON PAPER. b. DRAW OUTLINE OF HINGE. c. MARK LOCATION OF UPPER BODY SIDE HOLE AND PUNCH HOLE THROUGH PAPER AT CENTRE OF HOLE. d. PLACE TEMPLATE ON SERVICE HINGE AND CENTRE PUNCH HOLE LOCATION. e. DRILL OUT A PILOT HOLE USING A 6.3mm (1/4") DRILL BIT. f. ENLARGE HOLE AS FOLLOWS USING PROPER SIZE DRILL BIT: - FRONT DOOR COUPE HINGE HOLE TO 11mm (7/16") - FRONT AND REAR DOOR SEDAN HINGE HOLE TO 11mm (7/16")
5. Install hinges to body, door to hinge and tighten nuts and bolts to 20 to 28 N.m. (15 to 20 ft. lbs.).
6. Inspect door for proper alignment and realign if necessary.
7. Remove protective tape.
