Recently, all dealers were advised that their authority under the PICS Program has been expanded to include waiver of the $100 deductible. As the letter announcing this policy change stated, this authority is being granted with the understanding that it is to be used only in instances where customer satisfaction is clearly at risk and waiting for zone authorization for waiver of the deductible might present unnecessary delays.
To override a deductible, dealers should submit a Type "M" Claim using their PICS Authorization Code (66). All normal authorization procedures as outlined in the PICS Dealership Operating Procedures and the Pontiac Service Policies And Procedures Manual should be followed.
Please provide this information to all dealership personnel with Claims Processing responsibilities.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
