Instructions

Important:  Using a magnifying glass and a flashlight, verify that the crack occurred due to a stress in the glass. Inspect for any signs of impact to the windshield. Disregard this bulletin if the crack was not caused by stress.

If a vehicle is encountered with this concern, complete the following steps:

  1. Verify that the VIN and mileage on the repair order are accurate.
  2. Record the build date for the vehicle.
  3. Gather the following details about the stress crack:
  4. • Did the crack originate at one of the edges of the windshield (A-pillar, cowl, roof) or away from all edges?
    • If cracking is not at an edge, how far in and where from a reference point, does the crack start?
    • What direction does the crack run (horizontal, vertical or diagonal)?
  5. Take digital pictures of the stress crack. If you do not have a digital camera, use the provided windshield graphic to indicate the location of the crack in the windshield.
