Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Release the wheel speed sensor harness retaining clips (1) and release the harness.
- Clean all dirt and foreign material from the brake hose ends and the brake pipe fitting.
- Using a backup wrench on the hose fitting, disconnect the brake pipe fitting from the brake hose. Cap or plug the brake pipe fitting end and the brake hose end to prevent fluid loss and contamination.
- Release the retaining clip from the brake hose mounting bracket and the brake hose.
- Remove the brake hose fitting bolt from the brake caliper.
- Remove the brake hose bracket retaining bolt.
- Remove the brake hose from the brake caliper.
- Remove and discard the copper brake hose gaskets. These gaskets may be stuck to the brake caliper and/or the brake hose end.
- Cap or plug the opening in the brake caliper and the brake hose to prevent fluid loss and contamination.
Installation Procedure
- Remove the caps or plugs from the opening in the brake caliper and the brake hose.
Note: Install NEW copper brake hose gaskets.
- Assemble the NEW copper brake hose gaskets, and the brake hose bolt, to the brake hose.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the brake hose fitting bolt to the brake caliper and tighten the bolt to
52 N·m (38 lb ft).
- Install the front brake hose bracket retaining bolt and tighten to
12 N·m (106 lb in).
- Install the wheel speed sensor harness and secure the retaining clips (1).
- Remove the caps or plugs from the brake pipe fitting end and the brake hose end.
- Using a backup wrench on the hose fitting, connect the brake pipe fitting at the front brake hose.
Tighten the fitting to
18 N·m (13 lb ft).
- Install the brake hose retaining clip to the brake hose and the brake hose mounting bracket.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Ensure that the hose does not make contact with any part of the suspension. Check the hose in extreme right and extreme left turn conditions. If the hose makes contact, remove the hose and correct the condition.
- Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.
- Lower the vehicle.
