Some 1990 U-vans with Electronic Level Control (RPO G67) and assembled prior to VIN breakpoints indicated below, may exhibit a "loose lumber" noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. This condition is sensitive to vehicle loading and may not be apparent when vehicle is not loaded to the equivalent of a five passenger ballast condition.

Impact of the rear shock absorber lower conical retainer with the encapsulated metal mounting surface of the upper shock absorber mount.
Install flat washer, P/N 10000925 between upper shock absorber mount and rear shock absorber lower conical retainer at both rear locations following applicable Shop Manual procedure as shown in Figure 1.
