SOME VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT A POPPING TYPE NOISE AUDIBLE DURING MODERATE BRAKING OR ACCELERATION. TYPICALLY THIS NOISE CAN BE DETECTED AS COMING FROM ONE OR BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE IN THE FRONT OF DASH/FLOOR PAN AREA AND IS SIMILIAR TO A "CRUNCHING" NOISE CAUSED BY LOOSE FRAME MOUNTING BOLTS WHICH ARE TO BE TORQUED TO 140 N.M (103 LB.FT.).
REAR FRAME MOUNTS NOT CORRECTLY SEATED TO FRAME WHICH CAN RESULT IN A POPPING NOISE DURING FORE-AFT LOADING.
DETERMINE SUSPECT MOUNT LOCATION(S) AND USING A FEELER GAGE, CHECK FOR ANY GAP BETWEEN THE LOWER METAL SURFACE OF THE FRAME AND THE UPPER METAL SURFACE OF THE LOWER INSULATOR. AT MOUNT LOCATION(S) WHERE A GAP IS DETECTED, REPLACE COMPONENTS INDICATED BELOW FOLLOWING SERVICE MANUAL PROCEDURE IN SECTION 10-3, FRAME, AND THOSE IN ILLUSTRATION.
