For 1990-2009 cars only
- Install the front cover gasket.
- Apply sealer to both sides of the lower tabs of the front cover gasket.
- Install the front cover.
- Install the front cover bolts.
- Install the drive belt tensioner.
- Install the drive belt tensioner retaining bolt.
Use GM RTV sealer GM P/N 12346004 or its equivalent.
Tighten
| • | Tighten the large longer bolts (2) to 55 N·m (41 lb ft). |
| • | Tighten the large shorter bolts (3) to 47 N·m (35 lb ft). |
| • | Tighten the small bolts (1) to 21 N·m (15 lb ft). |
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
