For 1990-2009 cars only
- Install the wave washer (1).
- Align the block tooth on the race and upper shaft assembly (1) to the 12 o' clock position.
- Put the lock cylinder in the LOCK position and remove the key.
- A new SIR coil assembly will be pre-centered. Pull the tab and remove. Do not depress the tab (1) on the back of the SIR coil assembly.
- If reusing the original SIR coil assembly refer to Inflatable Restraint Coil Centering - Off Vehicle .
- Align the SIR coil assembly (2) with the horn tower sticking through the shaft lock shield assembly (1).
- Install the retaining ring (1).
- Pop the wire harness assembly (4) into the wire harness strap (5).
- Install the wire harness straps (2) into the steering column tilt head assembly (1).
- Install the wire harness straps (3) onto the wire harness assembly (4).
- Install the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble - Off Vehicle .
Important: The retaining ring (1) must seat securely on the groove of the race and upper shaft assembly (2).
