Tools Required

1. Remove the SIR coil assembly. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Disassemble - Off Vehicle .



2. Remove the bearing retainer using J 23653-SIR and dispose of it.
3. Remove J 23653-SIR from the steering column.



4. Remove the shaft lock shield assembly (1).
5. Remove the turn signal cancel cam assembly (2).
6. Remove the upper bearing spring (3).
7. Remove the upper bearing inner race (4).
8. Remove the inner race (5).
9. Remove the tilt spring. Refer to Tilt Spring - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .



10. Use the J 21854-01 in order to remove the tilt head pivot pins (3).
11. Remove the tilt head.
