Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 824712  Size: SH
  1. Open the liftgate.
  2. Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement .
  3. Disconnect the latch cable (1).
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector (5) from the liftgate latch (3).
  5. Disconnect the rod (2) from the lock cylinder. Refer to Liftgate Lock Cylinder Replacement .
  6. Remove the bolts (4) from the liftgate latch (3).
  7. Remove the liftgate latch (3) from the liftgate.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 824712  Size: SH
  1. Install the liftgate latch (3) to the liftgate.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts (4) to the liftgate latch (3).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the liftgate latch bolts (4) to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  5. Connect the rod (2) to the lock cylinder. Refer to Liftgate Lock Cylinder Replacement .
  6. Connect the electrical connector (5) to the liftgate latch (3).
  7. Connect the latch cable (1).
  8. Install the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement .
  9. Close the liftgate.
