  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Place a drain pan or suitable container under the transfer case.

  3. Object Number: 828067  Size: SH
  4. Remove the transfer case oil level/filler plug (2) from the transfer case.
  5. Remove the transfer case drain plug (1) from the transfer case and drain the transfer case oil.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Place the transfer case drain plug into the transfer case.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the transfer case drain plug to 49 N·m (36 lb ft).

  9. Add approximately 0.8 liters (0.85 qts) of 80W-90 GL5 lubricant or equivalent, into the oil level/filler plug hole. The oil level should be even with the bottom of the oil level/filler plug hole.
  10. Place the transfer case oil level/filler plug (2) into the transfer case.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the case oil level/filler plug to 49 N·m (36 lb ft).

  12. Lower the vehicle.
