Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor Replacement Front

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
2. Remove the front door sill plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.
3. Remove the rear door sill plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.
4. Remove the center pillar lower trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
5. Remove the front seat belt retractor. Refer to Seat Belt Retractor Pretensioner Replacement - Left Front or Seat Belt Retractor Pretensioner Replacement - Right Front .
6. Remove the side impact sensor electrical connector.



7. Remove the side impact sensor fastener (2).
8. Remove the side impact sensor (1).

1. Install the side impact sensor (1).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

2. Install the side impact sensor fastener (2).

Tighten
Tighten the fastener to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

3. Install the side impact sensor electrical connector.
4. Install the front seat belt retractor. Refer to Seat Belt Retractor Pretensioner Replacement - Left Front or Seat Belt Retractor Pretensioner Replacement - Right Front in Seat Belts.
5. Install the center pillar lower trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
6. Install the rear door sill plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.
7. Install the front door sill plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.
8. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .

Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor Replacement Rear

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling or SIR Disabling and Enabling .
2. Remove the rear door sill plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.
3. Remove the rear seat garnish molding. Refer to Body Side Rear Garnish Molding Replacement .
4. Remove the side impact sensor (SIS) electrical connector.



5. Remove the SIS fastener (2).
6. Remove the SIS (1).

1. Install the SIS (1).

5. Install the rear door sill plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.
6. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling or SIR Disabling and Enabling .
