Power Steering Gear Outlet Pipe/Hose Replacement AWD

Removal Procedure

  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle in order to catch any power steering fluid.

  2. Object Number: 850392  Size: SH
  3. Remove the bolt (2) from the power steering gear outlet hose (3).
  4. Loosen the clamp that retains the power steering cooling pipe to the gear outlet hose.
  5. Notice: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Remove the gear outlet hose from the cooling pipe.
  7. Remove the pipe fitting (4) and the gear outlet hose from the steering gear (5).

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

    Notice: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 850392  Size: SH
  1. Install the pipe fitting (4) and the gear outlet hose (3) to the steering gear (5).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the pipe fitting to 25 N·m (18.4 lb ft).

  3. Install the end of the gear outlet hose (1) to the cooling pipe.
  4. Install the hose clamp in order to retain the hose to the pipe.
  5. Install the bolt (2) in order to retain the hose to the steering gear.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 7.8 N·m (69.04 lb in).

  7. Fill the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  8. Notice: Refer to Air in the Power Steering System Notice in the Preface section.

  9. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
