Removal Procedure
- Discharge and recover the refrigerant. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Remove the evaporator inlet and outlet hoses from the evaporator tube assembly (3).
- Remove the grommet and insulator.
- Remove the two bolts (4) and expansion valve (2) from the evaporator.
- Remove and discard the O-rings (1).
Installation Procedure
- Install new O-rings (1) coated with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil to the evaporator and expansion valve.
- Install the expansion valve (2) and evaporator tube assembly (3) to the evaporator.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the two bolts (4) to the expansion valve.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts (4) to 5.4 N·m (48 lb in).
- Install the evaporator inlet and outlet hoses.
- Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Operate the A/C system. Inspect for refrigerant leaks. Refer to
Leak Testing
.
